Maya Bell is a filmmaker and visual journalist based in Columbia, Missouri. She is currently working as the Program Coordinator for True/False Film Fest. In her free time, she creates non-fiction films, both solo and with teams.

Previous roles include: Adjunct Instructor at the University of Missouri, the Assistant Director of Photography at the Columbia Missourian. She also worked as a Visual Editor and a Staff Visual Journalist, covering a range of daily and long-term assignments.

Maya, a cellist of 14 years, has a strong draw to photographing and filming anything music-related. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Documentary Film and Photojournalism program at the Missouri School of Journalism. Over the last few years, she has worked at several small, organic farms. From that experience, she has discovered an interest in telling stories about sustainable living and conservation.
