Puppies for Parole offers selected residents in the Missouri prison system the opportunity to become trainers for rescue dogs. Throughout the course, the trainers teach their dogs basic obedience and social skills. Since its establishment in 2010, the program has helped train and home close to 7,000 dogs.
Resident dog trainers in the Puppies for Parole program go through formal training with the U.S. Department of Labor and earn an animal handling degree.
